Project aim

The aim was to create a proof of concept for an immersive physical game that demonstrates an innovative way to deliver exercise or physical rehabilitation through movement. Students work in teams using an agile approach.

Project outline

This final year group project is an exercise game which uses computer vison (a webcam that tracks objects) to map the player’s movement to an avatar which the user controls to complete interactive minigames with real time feedback, achievements, and medals.

Achievements unlock rewards like customisation options for the avatar.

Players receive positive feedback through audio and visual cues.

The minigames will encourage upper body movement by incorporating stretches into the games. Using computer vision vs other tech will make the game accessible to a larger audience, since most individuals have a webcam.

The project name “PhySy” is a play on words on physical and fizzy, this influenced the appearance of the user interface by incorporating bubbles and warm colours.

The project received great feedback from Preloaded, who provided the brief, and teaching team. "PhySy was fun to play and the selected technology was an effective way to deliver the brief. The aesthetic was charming and appealing to many ages. The team worked very well together and overcome setbacks along the way."
