This Master鈥檚 in Safety, Health and Environment covers all aspects of occupational safety, health and environment, with emphasis on learning and research.
This distance-learning course teaches you to help prevent accidents, ill health and other losses arising from work and work activities. Safety professionals are increasingly responsible for environment-related issues, and this is reflected in the topics studied in this MSc Safety, Health and Environment.
We aim to help you develop research and analytical skills, and to gain a wider and more in-depth understanding of occupational health theory and practice. By studying critical thinking, you gain the necessary skills for the rest of the course. Growing concern about climate change also informs our approach to environmental issues in the workplace.
This course is accredited by two professional bodies: the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) as well as the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS).

What you will study
About the course team
Welcome to our distance-learning Master's in Occupational Hygiene, which enables you to achieve Graduate IOSH status and find opportunities in a growing field of employment. The course leader is a Chartered Member of IOSH and a Fellow of the HEA.
Entry requirements
You should have a good honours degree 2:2 or above or in Business, Health, HR or a science or engineering subject.
We will also consider appropriate Health and Safety Level 6 qualifications, or professional qualifications with relevant experience, or other qualifications equivalent to the above.

How you will learn
Learning experience
The course is available by distance learning, so learning takes place through self-study. We provide study guides and electronic sources via methods including email, telephone and Skype. We'll also invite you to study schools in September and January to meet tutors and other students.
Class sizes
This course is offered by distance learning and the intake can vary.
Independent learning
We encourage you to apply for membership of or and to attend monthly meetings at the branch closest to where you live.
Overall workload
If you are studying part time, you should expect the workload to be similar to a part - time job (approx. 18-20 hours per week in total).
Each module you study towards this degree is worth 20 credits. These represent around 200 study hours respectively.
Assessment
Each course has two formal summative assessments which count towards your final grade approximately 6 and 12 weeks into term.
Feedback summary
We aim to give feedback on assignments within 15 working days.

As a master's student with us, you will be a member of a larger creative community. Additionally, joining societies such as will help you network and can build skills and present new opportunities.
