International Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Online)

If you are passionate about developing inclusive intercultural learning and global connectivity in your teaching practice, this online course is ideal for you.

The iPGCE is a global teacher education qualification for practitioners, with two or more years of teaching experience, who want to gain a recognised international qualification for teaching in an early years, primary, secondary or equivalent educational context. This online course is designed to develop teaching skills and knowledge when working with a diverse student body. You will need to be teaching or supporting teaching in a formal education setting (voluntary or paid) throughout the duration of the course.

久久精品ing the International PGCE will enable you to develop your professional competency, as a creative and inclusive educator, through critical reflection and research in a national and global context. This award is widely recognised as an international qualification for teaching excellence.

Once you complete the course, you can use 60 credits towards completing a part-time or a full-time Master’s in Education through our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.

Though this course does not provide a direct route to QTS, it can be used with our UK Assessment Only Route to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), if a candidate is suitably qualified and experienced.

What you should know about this course

How you will learn

Learning experience

The iPGCE is a distance learning course that is delivered online. In a typical week, learning takes place through a combination of lectures and seminars. You will be able to discuss and develop your understanding of topics covered in lectures in smaller group sessions. Contact hours may fall between 9am and 9pm, depending on your elective courses and tutorials.

Class sizes

The typical student intake per year averages 20-30.

Independent learning

Outside of timetabled sessions, you will need to dedicate time to self-study to prepare for coursework and assessments. Our online library resources and academic skills support will assist your further reading and research. You can also join a range of online student activities.

Overall workload

Your overall workload consists of contact hours (lectures, seminars, etc), independent learning, and assessments. You should expect to spend at least eight hours a week studying outside of University attendance.

Assessment

On the iPGCE, students are assessed in a variety of ways including group work, presentations, evaluation tasks, self-reflective essays and research study. All assessment is designed to enhance professional development and strengthen understanding of inclusive global education practice.

Do you provide employability services?

Our services are designed to help you achieve your potential and support your transition towards a rewarding graduate career.

The Employability and Careers Service provides support when you are preparing to apply for placements and graduate roles. It includes CV clinics, mock interviews and employability skills workshops.

Each School also has its own Employability Officer, who works closely with the industry and will provide specific opportunities relevant to your own course.

We want you to make the most of your time with us. You can access study skills support through your tutor, our subject librarians, and our online academic skills centre.

Where appropriate, we provide support in academic English and mathematics. If you need to use particular IT packages for a specific module, we provide training for this.
