Microsoft 365

The university's subscription to Microsoft 365 allows staff and students to use Microsoft Office apps on Windows and Mac, iOS and Android devices.

Microsoft 365 offers those involved in teaching, learning or research an adaptive IT environment with the ability to better collaborate through industry standard tools, and fast secure storage.

Microsoft 365 (formally Office 365) is a platform that provides users access to their cloud based Office software which allows you to create, collaborate and share your work. In addition to the usual Microsoft Office apps, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote etc. Microsoft 365 also offers additional collaboration and communication tools such as OneDrive, Teams and the Yammer social networking platform. We have started building a set of frequently asked questions, and will be adding to it regularly.

Installation guides

Follow these simple steps to access the online Microsoft 365 apps from your on your devices:

  1. Go to 
  2. Type in your university username followed by @gre.ac.uk (eg. xx1425z@gre.ac.uk). 
  3. Enter your university password and click Sign In.

You may be prompted to download and install an App (such as Word or PowerPoint) to your device, which is designed specifically to run on that platform. 

Microsoft provide detailed instructions of how to download and install the Office 365 software across a range of operating systems. N.B. If you see an ‘Allow my organisation to manage my device’ box, please deselect this before clicking OK.

    • The native mail clients built into Android and iOS devices do not support one of the key security technologies used to protect you and the University from a large various of malicious attacks, Multi Factor Authentication (MFA). Therefore the university does not support the use of these applications and Outlook should be used instead.
  • iOS

    • The native mail clients built into Android and iOS devices do not support one of the key security technologies used to protect you and the University from a large various of malicious attacks, Multi Factor Authentication (MFA). Therefore the university does not support the use of these applications and Outlook should be used instead.
